May 26, 2020 UPDATE****
PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS OF OUR VIRTUAL VIRUS VARIANT SERIES IN MID-JUNE, WHEN REGISTRATION WILL OPEN
BASIC DETAILS ARE AS FOLLOWS
All of the Virus Variant Series distances represent something related to the Belleville Main Street Marathon or what created this odd year—COVID-19 (including a 19K and 19 miler). The series will take place September 26 through October 4.
What distance will you choose?
5-miler (to commemorate what would have been our 5th year!!!)
9.2 miles (the length of our beloved Belleville Main Street)
19K (or 11.8 miles) (so many have asked for a half marathon, and this is pretty darn close!!!)
19 miles (yep, let’s make “19” something great!!!)
26.2 miles (how could we not?!)
Registration will open in mid-June, and more details will be provided at that time.
We will miss your faces on race day but hope you send pics of your training and your victory run on our Facebook page so that we can encourage you, cheer you on, and celebrate with you!
**Please note: The information in the text box below is NO LONGER APPLICABLE for 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.**
The marathon begins at 7 AM, and course support ends at 2 PM.
This Boston Marathon-qualifying course in the Southern Illinois community of historic Belleville, IL, which is near downtown St. Louis, features a marathon-only event with enthusiastic crowd support, ample hydration and fueling stations, and the amenities of a big city race. About half the course is on America’s longest Main Street with the other half on area streets and portions of the paved Richland Creek Greenway Trail and MetroLink Bike Trail.
This is an open course on open roads, and participants must be at mile 13 by 10:23 am or they will be transported by an official race vehicle to another point on the course and allowed to cross the finish line with an unofficial time and to receive a finisher medal.
